Creative directors ensure Teague—at the level of studio, project team, and individual—has what it needs to deliver Teague-quality output.     Creative directors guide teams across all phases of projects to ensure objectives are being met and design quality is being achieved. They provide hands-on leadership to the project team, with critique, experience-borne advice, productive framing of problem spaces, and—when the need arises—picking up a marker or a mouse to knock out some of the design with the team. They chart a path forward when projects are murky and ambiguous. Creative directors form collaborative relationships with the client in order to understand their needs, goals, and business.   Creative directors help create a studio culture where design, quality, growth, and collaboration are central. Creative directors manage direct reports where they coach, mentor, and provide feedback. They play the role of hiring manager and participate heavily in the talent acquisition process to ensure the studio is attracting world-class talent.   Creative directors collaborate with Teague’s growth team to identify promising opportunity spaces, help potential clients understand the value of design, and present Teague’s process and portfolio. They play a central role in scoping and resourcing projects to ensure the right people, processes, and timelines are in-place for Teague-quality design to happen.   The Creative Director is a visionary leader for cultural and design excellence in the Global Design Studio and across Teague. The position requires an extensive knowledge of and experience in design consulting and the ability to direct multi-disciplinary teams in a holistic design approach on complex strategic projects. We need someone at the helm who not only has a deep understanding of design, industry trends, and business strategy, but a visionary leader who can provide expert guidance and thought leadership for our teams and clients. Harnessing Teague’s creative talent and steering it so that it continues to anticipate and meet our clients’ needs in the years ahead is the key to exceeding their expectations. The senior interaction designer is a highly proficient craftsperson in their discipline. They dive into gnarly, ambiguous problem spaces and bring back processes, techniques, and a level of quality that sets the standard for the industry. The person in this role has applied experience with design methodologies with every aspect of the traditional discover, design, deliver process. This person is comfortable collaborating with other design and non-design disciplines. Who We Are This position will work in Teague’s Global Design Studio. GDS works in a wide array of industries and opportunity spaces—from gestural user interfaces for children to service design for government policies to operating systems for space stations and everything in between. Our job is to push boundaries every single day. Why We Need This Position Teague lives by the quality of our designers. Without smart, dedicated, and imaginative creators, we’re simply not able to deliver on the wide array of spaces in which we work.  Who We’re Looking For You are an experienced, solution-oriented designer that is constantly looking for challenges to broaden and deepen your skill set. You have proven, repeat, in-the-field experience wielding interaction design tools, processes, and techniques. Your solid grasp of craft means you can move through design processes quickly and can spot systemic issues and cascading impacts before they happen. You think in systems and apply this skill to think strategically about opportunities, solutions, and impacts in terms of all stakeholders.   You are experienced running significant parts of qualitative research—even the more ambiguous, squishy, generative research that lives upstream of usability testing. You are calm and confident presenting and communicating your work to different audiences, because you know how to sequence and organize content to tell stories and unpack complex ideas. What The Job Looks Like As a senior interaction designer, you will exemplify that standard for what interaction design means at Teague. On any given day, you may find yourself producing wireframes and flows at appropriate fidelity; leading design reviews with clients; planning and executing design research; producing simulations to demonstrate flow or nuanced interactions and motion; designing and running a design thinking workshop for clients; presenting new tools and processes to the studio; and documenting detailed design for communication to team, clients, and developers. Skills & Experience Summary Generally speaking, we find people that have at least four years of experience and a degree in a field related to interaction design are good senior designer candidates. But, to be more specific, we are looking for someone who checks a lot of the following boxes at a highly proficient level.   - Application of usability principles, interaction design methods and artifacts, user research methods and artifacts, UI patterns, and design terminology - Knowledge of human interface guidelines of major operating systems (iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows, etc.) - Proficiency with applications for communicating and prototyping information architecture, flow, and interaction of services and interfaces (Figma, Sketch, Principal, InVision, etc.) - Qualitative research methods (usability testing, generative research, stakeholder interviews, etc.) - Verbal and written communication and presentation of design rationale, content, and framing - Ability to quickly understand new topics and spaces and break down complex and ambiguous schema and processes - Ability to think in terms of systems and provide solutions that can satisfy input and feedback from various stakeholders - Understanding of major players, platforms, and trends when it comes to innovation and technology - Bonus secondary skill sets in any of the following: front-end development, video production, motion graphics, visual identity & branding, product strategy, industrial design.   Note: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. The interaction designer thrives on identifying opportunities and generating solutions for people navigating information, technology, and communication. The more gnarly and tangled the opportunity space; the more engaged and enthusiastic the interaction designer. They deploy user research to better understand these spaces and to refine potential solutions. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to execute the traditional process of discover-design-deliver. Who We Are This position will work in Teague’s Global Design Studio. GDS works in a wide array of industries and opportunity spaces—from gestural user interfaces for children to service design for government policies to operating systems for space stations and everything in between. You are endlessly curious about people and technology, and it’s a little scary how quickly you pick up on new ideas. Your approach to interaction design is resilient and faceted, because you understand digital screens are only one of the ways people interact with the world.   You know user research, stakeholder workshops, and your designerly intuition is how meaningful products and services are identified and reborn. You are adept at connecting the dots from research and can simultaneously entertain multiple, different potential solutions and models. You also know when it is time to make decisions and start doing.   You believe in the power of iteration, critique, and collaboration. When faced with ambiguity, you rapidly sketch a breadth of potential solutions as a sense-making activity. You understand that communicating design—and its rationale—is just as important as the design itself, so you are building a tool belt of different techniques for visualizing and communicating potential solutions: sketching, wireframing, writing, storyboarding, prototyping, coding, motion graphics, data visualization, or some other form of magic. Skills & Experience Summary Generally speaking, we find people that have anywhere from one or more years of experience or a degree in a field related to interaction design are good candidates.
