  • Overview

    As an Industrial Design Intern, you’re an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, who supports us in strategically designing future experiences for people and things in motion. We work at every scale; from the latest consumer devices, to full blown travel experiences. Through our client facing projects, you will gain valuable experience; with direct client interaction, project development, and exposure to our unique approach of Thinking Through Making. It will be challenging but engaging.


    Through your experience, we’ll also help you develop and learn technical design skills across all stages of the design process. This position may include time in our downtown Seattle Global Design Studio and/or our Aviation Design Studio located in Everett, WA.


    Specific responsibilities include conceptualizing and articulating aesthetic and functional solutions; participating in design reviews; assisting in the creation of documents through sketches, renderings, models, mechanical drawings and visual presentations. You have a portfolio demonstrating well-evolving hard skills, clearly articulated points of view, and critical thinking.



    What We Just Said, Now in 5 Bullet Points (a.k.a. Essential Qualifications):

    • Experience: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree program with a focus on Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or Environmental/Exhibit Design; a portfolio of projects documenting the ability to develop design solutions (through research, sketching, modeling and final layout)
    • Technical: Strong skills in surfacing, modeling and rendering software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Rhino, or Alias; proficiency in the use of 2D design packages such as Adobe Creative Suite; strong design sketching and visual communication. Familiarity and comfort with physical prototyping tools such as 3D printer, machine shop, and electronics bench.
    • Passion: Envisioning, developing, and realizing designs for the future.
    • Role: Supporting the industrial design team in a variety of ways.
    • Personality: Collaborative, humble yet confident, flexible, curious, and a keen problem solver.
