Overview

The lifeblood of the studio, the Senior Visual Designer is an influencer of junior designers and tactical lead of projects, capable of owning, executing, and distributing visual design tasks and processes with minimal oversight. This position requires an expert visual design foundation (including typography, color, proportion, balance, form, graphic layout, and layout systems for various media); broad aesthetic sensibilities across a variety of styles, contexts, and brands; and experience leading and collaborating with other team members to produce engaging presentations.

Why We Need This Position
As a senior visual designer, you will be a part of TEAGUE’s evolving, 90-year legacy as we fuse the gap between the physical and the digital to help our clients bring innovative products and services to market. This means you are a visual designer that is ready to help build not just a team but an organizational competency and offering of visual design and branding—across a breadth of media and contexts. You will extend, challenge, and add new dimensions to TEAGUE’s established physical design prowess to meet—or better yet, exceed—our clients’ objectives.

Who We’re Looking For
You are a passionate, collaborative, and nimble designer with a strong aesthetic and a keen strategic mind who is capable of providing the studio with an experienced POV and recommendations on design methods and tools for your discipline. It’s your job to establish the vision for a visual system (distilling it from the brand, moodboarding processes, or relevant references), create its aesthetic rules and functional structures, and then either create the assets or delegate these tasks to junior visual designers. On any given day, you may find yourself recommending visual directions to the creative director; formulating objective justification for ambiguous visual design decision-making scenarios—such as choosing typefaces, color or brand identity elements—and supporting these arguments with trend research, competitive audits, or functional requirements; and/or creating and presenting portions of client presentations. At all times, it’s up to you to ensure that work is consistent across the system.

Personality-wise, you’re an engaged and proactive participant. You’re keen to take the initiative, give your opinion, roll up your sleeves, and work side by side with your teammates. You’re insatiably curious and eager to learn, determined to expand your skill set and deepen your understanding of auxiliary skills related to your field. You’re also comfortable taking the lead with presentations and interfacing with clients. Finally, you’re up to date on trends in the industry, and you’re an active member of the design community through participation—ideally presentation—at external events, publishing or collaborating on thought leadership. In short, if you’ve got serious design chops, a passion for the industry, a proactive solution-oriented personality, and a love of working with creative teams, we may just have your dream job.
